Leonard Richard Franklin Short went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, May 13, 2017 to be with His Savior, Jesus Christ, and the love of his life, Glenna Odene Short, his wife of over 70 years. He graduated from Tech High School and worked hard from the time he was a young man. After serving many years as a U.S. Postal Carrier, a hobby soon became his full time career and well serving business, East Memphis Rubber Stamp Co. Retiring at 65, he spent many years enjoying another hobby - wood crafting and participating in craft fairs selling his woodwork. For many years, Leonard and wife Glenna were active members of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, and then active members of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church after moving to Bartlett in 1973 and until their death. Leonard has always been a faithful Christian servant, praising God through his service, time, and talents. His wife and family were his next loves, with an unconditional love. He was preceded in death by his wife Glenna Odene Short; his parents, Charles Carl and Nellie Reese Short; his brother, Carl Short; two wonderful grandsons - Matthew Cullen Good and Anthony Ray Bryant; beautiful great granddaughter, Hannah Grace, and beautiful great-great granddaughter, Jalynn Ray. Leonard is survived by his children Peggy Bryant (Ray); Sandra Byrd (John "Dickie"); Richard Short (Betsey); and Becky (Cullen "Buddy") Good; and a wealth of grandchildren, great grands and great-great grands. The family will receive friends to Celebrate Leonard's life on Friday, May 19, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for visitation, with Memorial Service immediately following (11 a.m.) - Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 6050 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
