Mrs. Virginia Marcelle Bilger Ligon formerly of Altamonte Springs, FL and Memphis, TN died Monday, May 1, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. She was 92.

Mrs. Ligon was born on August 15, 1924 to Napoleon Bonapart Bilger and Mildred Hazel Davis Bilger. Mrs. Ligon attended public schools in Memphis where she graduated from Humes High School in 1942. Mrs. Virginia Marcelle Bilger Ligon formerly of Altamonte Springs, FL and Memphis, TN died Monday, May 1, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. She was 92.

Mrs. Ligon was born on August 15, 1924 to Napoleon Bonapart Bilger and Mildred Hazel Davis Bilger. Mrs. Ligon attended public schools in Memphis where she graduated from Humes High School in 1942. Following work experiences at S. H. Kress & Company, Hayes Supply Company, and Columbia Compress, Mrs. Ligon went to work for the Memphis Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis where she met the love of her life, James J. Ligon, Jr. Following marriage and the birth of her children, Mrs. Ligon worked for the Memphis Law Firm of McCloy, Welford, and Clark. After moving to Central Florida pre-Disney Mrs. Ligon worked for Ivey's Department Stores of Florida in Winter Park, Florida. Mrs. Ligon moved to Albany, GA in 2014.

Survivors include sons James B. Ligon and wife Mary of Albany, GA and John P. Ligon and wife Brandi of Altamonte Springs, FL; grandson, Richard A. Ligon and wife Devonne of Arcadia, FL; granddaughters, Margaret V. Ligon of Athens, TN and Anna R. Ligon of Moultrie, GA; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Betty Bilger of Memphis, TN; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 in the Poplar Chapel of Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, TN beginning at 2:00PM. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:00PM until the service hour. Interment will be in Memphis Memorial Park.
